Rx Verification Print
Always verify to make sure that the correct prescription is counted and filled:
The verification that we are referring to as Rx Verification involves verifying that the medication issued to fill a prescription is the same medication that is called for in the prescription.

This, of course, was done manually by Pharmacists for centuries.  The manual system worked well when the pharmacist was unhurried and only filled a small number of scripts per day.  The Pharmacist usually retrieved the drug to be dispensed and could well afford the time to double check his work.   Nowadays, however, we find that the number of active prescription medicines has grown enormously and the number of scripts which must be filled has expanded proportionately.

Seeing that the correct medicine is given to each customer is of vital importance to the Pharmacist.  This, thankfully, is an area where automation can be brought to bear and does an excellent job of verification and reduces the Pharmacists workload as well as provides some ease of mind.

In the modern pharmacy, scripts are entered into a computer and then a printer produces a packet that follows the script through the filling and delivery process.  This packet contains a number of labels with bar codes on them.  One of these labels will carry the code for the drug to be dispensed. The pharmacist merely has to scan the drug label on the printed packet and then the bar code label on the drug container.  If these do not match an alarm is sounded and the pharmacist must rectify the problem before the system will allow the process to proceed.

The Torbal Rx Verification System incorporates a Laser Scanner for optimum ease of scanning and uses screen prompts to guide the Pharmacist through the simple process.
